焦宝石是硬质粘土熟料的别称，是由生焦宝石（简称生焦）经高温烧结而成的，煅烧后的焦宝石具有化学成分稳、耐火性高、强度大、质地均匀、结构致密、吸水率低、外观洁白等特点。广泛应用于粘土质定形和不定形耐火材料、粘土质坩埚、日用陶瓷、铸造砂、铸造涂料，建筑陶瓷、硅酸铝纤维、墙地砖等行业。
